The Nominating Committee for the Wake County Bar Association and Tenth Judicial District Bar will meet in August to identify candidates for positions on the Board of Directors, President-elect, Treasurer and Secretary. The Nominating Committee invites you to nominate individuals who have a passion for leadership and their bars and would like to serve their profession and the community. Self-nominations are also welcome and encouraged.

Do not assume that the Nominating Committee knows that you or others are interested in leadership roles. Please express your interest to the committee. You need not be a member of the Wake County Bar Association to seek a position, but if your name is put forward by the Nominating Committee you will need to join the WCBA and maintain your membership. Serving on the Board of Directors requires attendance at six meetings per year, in addition to other responsibilities, such as serving as a committee’s liaison to the Board.

The meetings are typically held Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. If chosen to run for President-elect, please keep in mind that it is a three-year time commitment. The President-elect serves as chair of the Finance Committee, as well as selects and introduces the speakers for the monthly luncheons and breakfast discussion series. The President is responsible for attending as many committee meetings and Bar functions as possible. The President will also preside over board meetings and Bar luncheons. The President-elect and President have some travel to annual conferences as part of their duties. The Past President chairs the Nominating Committee and remains available to the President(s) and President(s)-elect for guidance and advice.

If you have interest in serving in any of these capacities or know a worthy candidate, please complete the appropriate form below and submit it to Stephanie McGee at stephanie@wakecountybar.org.

If you have any questions, please contact Whitney von Haam at (919) 657-1572 or whitney@wakecountybar.org or Nominating Committee Chair Brian Beverly at (919) 861-5514 or bob@youngmoorelaw.com.
