Wake Lawyers 4 ALL

Wake County Bar Association members are pitching in to provide additional help for people who cannot afford legal services.  Wake Lawyers 4 ALL offers short- and long-term volunteer opportunities for Wake County lawyers.

HOW YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
There are pro bono opportunities to match your skills, interests and availability.

Interview, Advice and Brief Service:  During a monthly 4-hour block of time, you will interview and provide advice or brief service to pre-screened clients in one of three specific areas of law—private landlord/tenant, consumer and family.  Training, supervision and reference materials will be provided to all volunteers.

Extended Assistance:  Represent a pre-screened client within one of several areas of law—private landlord/tenant, public and subsidized housing, Medicaid, consumer, and employment security.  Even if you don’t practice in one of these areas, Legal Aid of North Carolina will train you.

WHAT ELSE IS NEEDED
Increasing the number of volunteers, means increasing resources becomes critical:

Office Space where attorneys who lack their own can meet with clients and can conduct basic legal research.

Technology including access to computers, phones, fax machines and printers.

Paralegals and support staff to investigate and develop cases, and to otherwise assist solo practitioners who don't have these resources.
