Message from the President

On behalf of our membership, I invite you to join the Wake County Bar Association. We are a voluntary bar organization of lawyers and judges practicing or residing in Wake County who are engaged in private practice, government service, corporate employment, and the judiciary. Membership in the WCBA offers many benefits — monthly luncheons featuring well-known guest speakers on current significant issues; regular social functions designed to attract all members of the Bar (after-work socials, family picnics, seasonal parties); BarCARES (our unique 24 hour per day free professional counseling services, open to members and their families); monthly electronic newsletter, the Wake County Bar Flyer which features current information essential to local attorneys; a membership pictorial directory and athletic events including golf and tennis outings and tournaments, and a basketball league, a softball league, and other athletic activities.

The most significant benefit of membership is the opportunity to develop and cultivate personal relationships with members of our growing and diverse Bar and judiciary, not only in the context of social and recreational activities, but also while working toward the common goals of improving the administration of justice, professionalism, access to justice, and public understanding of the legal profession and our system of justice. The WCBA has numerous committees on which you can serve to advance those goals depending upon your own particular talents and interests.
Membership applications and information are available through the WCBA Executive Director, Alice Roman (Phone: 657-1572; Fax 657-1564). We look forward to welcoming you as a new member!

    John I. Mabe
