RAISING THE BAR
Recognizing Acts of Professionalism Form (Wake County Bar Association/Tenth Judicial District Bar Professionalism Committee)
An act of professionalism is conduct on the part of a member of the Wake County Bar Association/Tenth Judicial District
Bar which notably tends to advance professionalism as defined by our State's Rules and customs, and by our local Creed of
Professionalism. Members of the bench and Bar are welcome to proactively recognize their colleagues who adhere to this
code of conduct and notably advance the professionalism of our Bar Association. The activity forming the basis for the
nomination should be in the nature of a specific act or acts, rather than a relationship or a longstanding course of interaction.
By submitting this form, the undersigned is representing and warranting that he or she is a duty licensed lawyer authorized
to practice law in the State of North Carolina, with his/her practice, as well as that of the nominee, located in this District, and that the nominator is not related to the nominee by blood or marriage, or by employment at the same firm or entity. Further,
the nominator warrants that the statements made herein are accurate, are made in good faith and without any purpose other than to nominate a deserving colleague for this recognition.
The nominator understands that a copy of this form will be provided to the nominee, and that the nominee may accept or
decline the nomination without giving any stated reason. Further, the basis for the nomination will not be disclosed unless
consented to by the nominee. The nominator's identity may be disclosed to the Bar at large as part of the announcement,
at the discretion of the Professionalism Committee. A nominee can opt simply to be on a list of people nominated, without
description of the basis for the nomination, or he/she can consent to possible use of a brief summary of the notable conduct.
Finally, the Professionalism Committee managing this program reserves the right to decline to go through with the nominating
process on any particular application, or decline to publish the nomination, in its sole discretion. The Professionalism
Committee may, at its discretion, publish information contained in this form in a print or electronic newsletter or other
publications of the Local Bar, on its website, in any materials generated through the Professional Committee's regular work,
orally at Bar functions, or in such other manner as the Professionalism Committee may deem appropriate in furtherance of
advancing professionalism in our Local Bar.
