Wheelchair Ramp project - This is to assist senior citizens who cannot afford a ramp in becoming more independent. It takes about 3 hours on a Saturday morning. All supplies and knowledge to build a ramp are provided.

Teen Court -This is an alternative sentencing program for young people who have committed non-violent crimes for the first time. The Court convenes on Tuesday evening at the Courthouse and needs attorneys to serve as either the judge or as advisors to the youth advocates. You do not need to be a criminal lawyer to participate in this project.

Lunch With A Lawyer – The Lunch With A Lawyer program pairs volunteer attorneys with school students employed by the City of Raleigh summer youth employment program. The program needs attorneys willing to share at least two lunches during the months of June and July. A sign up form is in the current Bar Flyer newsletter. Tutor Training Session - on August 25, 2008 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at Poyner & Spruill located at 3600 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh. The Wake County Public Schools and the Communities in Schools organization is offering members of the Bar an opportunity to serve as tutors. Those who are able will be asked to meet with their student for one hour per week throughout the school year.
